Seated Hare
Clay Sculpture - 20” H x 16”L x 7”D
My work encompasses two dimensional drawings and paintings in tile, as well as explorations of Fauna in sculptural renderings. The sculptural work explores the flora and fauna of my surrounding landscape.
Foxes, Hares, Deer and Crows. The Black Bear that lives in my woods.
It also explores the dreams of lands further afield where beasts live out their Stories.
The Spirit and Polar Bear. The Wilde Boar. The ones we live with.
Wolfhounds of Mythic Heritage. Sheep.
The Animals are inspired by Victorian and Nineteenth Century Children's Book Illustrations and Painting, Nursery Rhymes, Fairy and Folk Tales. It is the Narrative of the Creatures who are not so different from us, who live out the Stories that affect and inform our Lives.
The Sculptures are all a high temperature sculpture clay, which is then fired multiple
times with stains of metallic oxides, slips, engobes and satin matte glazes.
